Make a Difference - Be a Mentor!
Communities In Schools of Kent is currently looking for volunteer mentors. You only need an hour a week and a willingness to help a student succeed. Please contact Dee Klem, Mentor Coordinator at 253-867-5637 or dklem@ciskent.org for more information.
Kent Performance Learning Center
Located at the Kent Phoenix Academy, the Peformance Learning Center provides a wide variety of services to high school students in a creative ways that effectively meet student needs. Students who are accepted into the Phoenix Academy learn to overcome a wide variety of challenges in order to graduate, including poverty, homelessness, academic issues, and cultural and language barriers. Scenic Hill Elementary
We have recently added services to Scenic Hill Elementary, where a very high percentage of students meet low-income guidelines. Services provided by Communities In Schools include mentoring, helping students and families become eligible for needed services, and supporting the efforts of teachers and other school staff.
